2016 Video Marketing Trends

As the new year unfolds, some things are better left in 2015, and others we couldn’t let go of: from clothing trends that finally fit our personalities, to business moves you might have regretted, or a successful marketing strategy that started with the one and only: videos, a tool we are certainly keeping in 2016. If we were asked about the ultimate 2016 prediction? We would answer: Videos, the future of content marketing. So what are the 2016 video marketing trends you should be expecting? Let’s start the new year with some interesting predictions.

Customers trend

According to Points Groupan international marketing agency, the numbers speak for themselves. Customers are changing their watching behavior, and you should start paying attention to the “where”:

  • In 2016, 50% of video views will be on mobile devices.
  • By 2018, 149 million tablet video viewers will watch videos on a monthly basis.
  • A million minutes of video will be shared every second!

The customers is in a constant move, and with a very low attention span, that is not changing anytime soon. And given the numbers, videos are a great way to breakthrough the clutter and reach out to them.

Social media trend

As we have previously established, social media is not a temporary. It has become a lifestyle, and a critical part in the decision making processHootsuite started out by talking about Facebook, where more than 50 percent of people watch at least one video every single day. Snapchat isn’t far behind. According to the Financial Times, the channel is receiving around 6 billion video views daily.

Let’s not forget about the head of all video sharing platforms: Statistics from YouTube clearly indicates that companies are investing in reaching more customers from where they are: through their mobile devices and social media channels; and with a billion users, people watch hundreds of millions of hours and generate billions of views. Do the math.

Traffic trend

All pun intended of course. SEO and PPC advertising are two highly popular strategies for getting your site seen by visitors. But the rise of digital assistants (like Siri or Cortana) is going to lead to a new kind of optimization. They do more than search the web. They guide you through useful links and videos to be exact that will help you find what you are looking for. Just imagine, by 2019, 80% of all internet traffic will be video.

Advertising trend

Video ads will be the tool to beat. Google is finally getting on board with in-SERP video advertising, which means that more users will start to accept online video ads as they go; so expect to see more video ads popping up on your screen without being bothered. With Google’s ownership of YouTube, brace yourself for endless possibilities. Not only that but half of advertisers will allocate their budgets from TV to digital video. Impressive, no?

2015 has been an exciting year for online videos, and the best is yet to come. The 2016 video marketing trends are not stopping any time soon, going from one success to another, and we are proud to say that so far, wezank had the pleasure of being part of many business success stories, hopefully yours soon!
