Explainer Videos: the outline

outlineIn its simplest form, most explainer videos can be divided into two main parts: problem and solution. However, to get the audience’s full attention and curiosity, you’ll need more than that. The video should get viewers attached to the brand/service. Here at wezank, we offer different styles of explainer videos, and one of the most popular is the style we call “illustration” or “2d with characters”. The secret why this style works so well is the outline.

The Outline

Your in a new territory with no idea what to do or where to go and the outline is your map. An outline is crucial in paving the way to create the video and get the desired results. Let’s go through some basic points to include in the outline:

Create a Character

Put life into your video by introducing a character that would draw people into the story. Build on that character so that the viewers will be able to relate and get attached to him/her.

Introduce the Problems

As mentioned earlier, most explainer videos are basically problems and solution. When thinking about the problems, introduced dilemmas that your target audience want to solve. Play to their fears and worries so that you’ll gain their full attention and interest.

Introduce the Solution

Here is where your product will be first introduced. You’ll need to highlight how your product/service fixes all of the problems mentioned above. Build on that by showing what it feels like to solve all of those problems and how life becomes more enjoyable with this solution. You must always keep in mind that the viewers are very serious about those problems and are listening to what you have to say.

Create a Call to Action

Last but not least, add a call to action (Buy now, contact us etc…) Tell the audience what they need to do. Don’t be shy to use imperative verbs, they trigger action.

In a nutshell, an outline is crucial in building a storyline and putting all the little pieces together. Create the character, introduce the problem, solve them with the solution, add a call to action button and you’ll be on your way. Are you interested in knowing more about explainer videos?
