Battle of the Brands: Video takes all
CocaCola, Dropbox, RedBull … sounds familiar? All these names became one of the most influential brands in the world. We don’t mean to brag, but we are firm believers that videos had a little something to do with their fame and success. For many it wasn’t just any type of video, it was an explainer video to be precise. Take a minute and look at some of the brands that incorporated videos into their campaigns, which guaranteed their win in the battle of the bands.
The Winners
Big brands understand the power of emotions, and how it is important to create that connection with customers. The list below will show you some of the major brands that used videos, and in many cases made a huge lift on YouTube as well:
– RedBull
– TED Talks
This particular video was created by TED ED, the educational faction of the TED Talks. The video is a great example of an animated explainer video. It wasn’t particularly geared towards marketing but rather was an educational video designed to explain a numerical concept. A complicated idea made simple.
– Go Pro
– Samsung
– CocaCola
This video is a combination of an animated style and a whiteboard style. It is less of a B2C marketing video and more of an internal marketing video.
P.S: The video was exceptionally long for an explainer video. But still had its charm.
– Nike
– Victoria Secret
– Dropbox
A case study was actually published on this explainer video. Why the fuss over it? Well,Dropbox was a little tough to explain, so the video did a great job of explaining it. Moreover, it generated 1,000’s of new signups every day. It also targeted non-technical users. Brilliant.
The Results
The results were measurable in many ways, from subscription base growth on YouTube, to an increase in the number of followers on social media channels, and growth in sales. A triple win indeed.
The lesson
We can all learn a lesson or two from these brands. First to remain consistent in the content, second, to integrate the video in all social media platforms, and third, to have a straightforward call to action.
