Instagram Ads: videos up to 30 seconds

Instagram Ads

Are you on Instagram? Following the footsteps of its parent company, Facebook, the social media app has recently announced new and improved additions to its advertising section. Funny enough, Disney was one of the first to hop on the wagon and promote the trailer of “Big Hero 6“. Anthy Price, svp of media at Disney had this to say “We felt like we wanted to step up in a big way for Big Hero 6 and we’re excited about video.” Let’s dig deeper into the new additions:

Double Video Time

Starting September 30, advertisers will be able to advertise in videos up to 30 seconds long, that’s double the limit for regular users. Needless to say, advertisers can target users based on their interests and demographics.

30 New Countries

In it’s big announcement, Instagram mentioned their objective to reach out to small and large advertisers in 30 new countries including India, South Korea and Mexico and the Middle East.

Landscape View Mode

Some ads are much more powerful in landscape view mode. This will be appropriate for movie trailers giving them a nice cinematic look and feel.

Marquee

On a higher end of the scale, advertisers will have a premium option named “Marquee” that expands the reach and exposure of the ad for a short period of time.

Ads are never a welcome sight especially on a platform that never relied on them and the feedback was mainly negative:

Regardless the negativity, the move was inevitable. Mobile advertising is booming and videos are crucial deserving more attention than images. What do you think of the new changes? Would you advertise on Instagram? If so, contact us today and let’s create a video worth the 30 second boost.
