Facebook Video New Addition: Floating Videos

Facebook Video

Facebook has made many additions to its video services this year while tackling Youtube along the way. From native video upload, featured video, autoplay and continuous autoplay videos, the social media giant has been continuously coming up with ideas to improve its video services and leverage moving images. Mark Zuckerberg is anything but finished. Last week, he and his team started testing floating videos.

What are Floating Videos?

Floating videos are videos that keep floating around on your homepage while scrolling your newsfeed. This means that while checking out your friend’s trip to France or your parent’s embarrassing statuses, you can still enjoy watching our videos.

How do they work?

This new button (as seen in the photo below) for Facebook video will float it around and stick it on the screen  while you browse the newsfeed.

Once clicked, you can move the video around wherever you want. The video can still be paused, liked and shared at any point.

The video is a handy tool to multitask and enjoy multiple things at the same time.

Criticism

The new feature for Facebook video had some drawbacks for some in terms that the floating video is small and can’t be resized. Others found the fact that he video disappears if you go to a different page (messages, events etc..) annoying as well.

In conclusion, although there’s some room for improvement, this new feature is a great tool for us video freaks and a huge time savor. Care to try it with one of your own videos? Contact us today and let’s create an awesome video worth floating around.
