5 no no’s you should avoid in your explainer video
This post will be short and fast. We’ve summed up 5 things we always avoid when we’re developing a new explainer video despite some misconceptions a lot of you might have. Let’s dig in.
Starting off the video with the product
is not a very good idea. We usually like to build up an appealing storyline that will attract viewers. It would be pretentious of you to automatically show your product from the beginning. Everyone loves a good story, and be certain that your idea will shine at the right moment.
Mentioning the name a lot
gets boring, overbearing, and honestly, unrelatable. Overusing your brand name will definitely look fake, especially when randomly added to the script. The more natural the better don’t you think?
Missing the call to action
is just wrong. It’s one thing to create a captivating script and animation, but it’s another issue if they lead you nowhere. When you are creating an explainer video, you want your audience to do something. You can have it mentioned implicitly and explicitly.
Bashing competitors
is never OK. The purpose of any explainer video is to show your strength, and how your idea is here to fulfill the needs of your customers and solve a certain problem, regardless of whether or not your competitors are doing a good. We keep it professional as it should be.
Too much of everything
overwhelms and distracts from the main message. An explainer video can’t be too funny, too pessimistic, too emotional, or too complicated. It all depends on the objective of the video and your target audience of course.
We’re sure you might have a different point of you on certain points, so let’s discuss.
