Party Cocktails Done Right: the internet of things

Party Cocktails

Iot or the Internet Of Things is a keyword that has been buzzing the tech community for a while now. In brief, it’s this new era we’re living in where objects and machineries can operate and transfer data without the use of humans. The most recent entry into the IoT is Hollie, the robotic bartender. Forget the Terminator, this robot can mix party cocktails and serve you from behind the bar. Let’s talk more about the bot, shall we?

Hollie? Who the Zank is Hollie?

Hollie is a robot/cocktail making machine with 5 fingers that played a major roll in serving party cocktails, 280 to be specific, at the Stallwächter Party in Berlin earlier this year.

With two hands, each independent of the other, Hollie picks up empty glasses with its right and holds the glasses up to add flavours to the drinks.

But can it talk, you might ask? Hollie won’t listen to your problems, numb them away with alcohol and advice, but the machine can communicate a couple of sentences “Bramble Fizz coming up next!” and “Could someone please bring me new glasses?” Funny enough, it can also shake hands.. like a man!

But Wait, How Do We Order the Party Cocktails?

A tablet of course, what else? Customers select from either “Bramble Fizz”, a gin based fruit cocktail, or “digit.HoLLiE,” a whisky drink with lemonade. The drinks take around a minute to make and you’ll save the tips for yourself (we know you thought about that). Learn more about the robot here.
